Sarah Cox
Violin Teacher
Amherst, NY
10+ Years Experience
Hi! I'm Sarah Cox, a violinist with over ten years of professional performance and private teaching experience, currently offering violin lessons in the Amherst, NY area.
I recently moved to the Buffalo area with my husband from Raleigh/Durham, NC, where I had a full private violin studio for nearly a decade. Over the course of my career, I've had the privilege of watching my students grow into confident, accomplished musicians. My students have earned top scores in Music Federation competitions and held leading positions, including concertmaster, in All-County, All-State, and Regional Youth Symphony orchestras. Even more meaningfully, I’ve seen them support one another through performances, auditions, and collaborative projects, shar their music throughout their community, and approach music as a uniquely human way to create beauty, express emotion, and foster genuine connection. I can’t wait to see what they do next!
While I will miss my North Carolina students dearly, I’m excited for this next chapter and look forward to building new relationships and sharing the gift of music with students in the Buffalo area!

“It takes a special teacher to really see who your child is, love them and not only help them grow but pass their passion onto them. If you’re really lucky your child gets a couple of these teachers in their lifetime. Sarah is one of those teachers. She took a wild, music loving, little 5 year old boy who said he really wanted to learn violin and patiently worked with him over the years. She leaned in and pushed when he needed it and pulled back and let him play and be creative when he needed something different. After 7 years that same little boy is still passionate about and loves the violin. This is a true testament to Sarah’s teaching style and grace as an incredible human. I’m confident when Wilson picks up his violin and plays as an adult he will think of Sarah and the impact she made on him fondly.”
